Classroom Tour & Personal Statement Activity

The first day of October sounds like as good a time as any to take you on a classroom tour!

The beginning of the year has been rocky for my school, but we are finally in a good routine and flow…

We are also getting into a brand new memoir unit using Trevor Noah’s Born a Crime, where students will be writing their own short personal narratives. To begin this unit, we did an activity called “My 73” where students interviewed each other and then reflected on the whole process. (This activity and a walkthrough of the entire unit can be found in the Teaching Biography & Memoir Workshop from Brave New Teaching.)

Enjoy this EXTREMELY REAL classroom tour… you’ll see what I mean… ;)

Take a look at the Teaching Biography & Memoir Workshop from Brave New Teaching - we have put together a 5-part workshop with everything you could need to teach a unit using memoir and biography in your classroom !
